This month we are going to explore a common challenge - Low Milk Supply! Keep an eye on our facebook and instagram pages throughout the month for additional tips and guidance!

Babies need a certain amount of milk per day, based on their weight, and a full milk supply has an average range per 24 hrs, that stays pretty consistent from 1 month to 6 months of age! It is important to investigate baby's function at breast in cases of low supply, and to dig into frequency of milk removal. In many of these cases, pumping needs to be maximized, so we often troubleshoot things like flange sizing and comfort. Sometimes, looking into herbal supplements or medications, in addition to bloodwork, can help us dig a little deeper. Tools like an SNS (supplemental nursing system) can help babies stay at breast even if supply is low. Throughout the month, we will feature some of my favorite tips for low milk supply on social media...see you there!
